Dr. James E. Parco
Jim Parco, Ph.D., is a professor of economics and business at Colorado College (www.parco.cc). He is also the founder and co-owner of Mesa Organics (www.mesaorganics.com), a licensed retail cannabis operation (cultivation, manufacturing and store) in Pueblo, CO manufacturing CO2 extracts as Purplebee’s (www.purplebees.com). He is also a co-founder of The National Marijuana Museum (forthcoming) and a founding board member of the National Association of Cannabis Businesses (www.nacb.com). As a retired military officer, he previously taught at the US Air Force Academy, served on the National Security Council at the White House and later, with the American Embassy in Tel Aviv.

Joel Hatfield
Joel worked at Apeks Supercritical for many years, working his way from the machining department, through quality control, before moving into the Research & Development department. He was the Apeks expert, teaching our quarterly winterization class for customers, as well as teaching classes with the Cleveland School of Cannabis. Joel is now an independent consultant, who helps customers set up their extraction lab, using real world experience!

Marie Grinstead, PH.D.
Marie founded Botanical Processing in 2015, a CO2 extraction laboratory located in Louisville, KY. Botanical Processing is licensed to extract cannabinoids from hemp by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Marie earned her B.S. and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisville and completed her doctorate degree in December 2017. Her main focus is developing and utilizing optimal extraction methods as part of producing safe and effective natural products. She also has the desire to aid and assist other startup companies get on the right path to developing safe products. Her current research assesses the various product types that can be developed from CO2 fractions. Marie released her own line of CBD products, called Kōkua, and her lab also makes and distributes various types of hemp-derived products across the country.

Our affiliates have undergone full training in our CO2 extraction systems. They’ve taken a deep dive into the technical requirements and specifications of each system, and understand what’s involved in operating one. Please note: the affiliation with Apeks does not mean endorsement!
