Service Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Service Engineer to support our Service department. This position will be based out of our Johnstown, Ohio manufacturing headquarters. A successful candidate must be able to do the following:

  • Perform onsite customer training for all series of Apeks Systems
  • Perform module installations at customer’s site which includes running flexible compressed air lines, mechanical work and re-programming of controller
  • Perform onsite customer service calls that can include diaphragm(s) replacement, oil changes, troubleshooting system issues, etc…
  • Handle incoming service calls of existing customers which can include troubleshooting, parts identification and warranty items
  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits using digital multimeter and ammeter
  • Troubleshoot machine operation using Process and Instrumentation Diagram, and programming software
  • Identify components in electrical schematics, to include DC power supplies, pressure transducers, fuses, circuit breakers, motor starters, relays, and thermocouples
  • Connect pc to PLC and download or upload programs using Rockwell software (RSLinx, Studio 5000, Connected Components Workbench with USB and/or Ethernet IP).
  • Troubleshoot Allen Bradley PF500 series drives
  • Install or replace AC induction motors up to 15HP, including alignment and belt tension on belt drive system
  • Work independently or as a member of a team to solve problems
  • Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of power transmission systems (RPM/sheave diameters/belt sizes/QD bushings)
  • Work directly with customers while representing Apeks in a professional manner
  • Travel when necessary. Up to 50 – 75% of the time
  • Excellent safety record

In addition, the ideal Service Engineer would have the following:

  • Experience with pumps, specifically of a packed plunger or diaphragm compressor design
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code
  • At least 3 yrs. experience in a skilled trades environment
  • HVAC (because our systems work similarly to an AC system)
  • Compression fitting knowledge/experience (i.e. Swagelok)
  • Tube bending experience

Qualifications:

  • College degree, preferably in an engineering field.
  • Must pass background check and drug test.
  • 5 yr. experience in a service related position.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel/rent cars
  • At least 21 years of age

Sales Engineer

Apeks Supercritical is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of a Technical Sales Representative. Responsibilities include developing and driving sales opportunities of our full range of Supercritical CO2 extraction equipment. This position is intended to develop into a Territory Manager position in 6-12 months. This position will be based out of our Johnstown, Ohio manufacturing headquarters.

The desired candidate should be a self starter in developing and implementing a Business Plan, working closely with the other Territory Managers as well as marketing colleagues to deliver aggressive call cycle and business development results. This will include account visits, prospecting, and business development activities including seminars, workshops, on site technical presentations at customer accounts and support of trade shows. A keen understanding of the customers’ needs and challenges will be developed followed by the design and communication of our solutions such that they convey meaningful business impact to our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed sales targets on an annual basis
  • Maintain installed base customer satisfaction and follow up with existing customers
  • Aggressively develop new prospects and penetrate competitive accounts positioning compelling advantages of Apeks Supercritical extraction technologies
  • Visit customers on a daily basis to highlight Apeks Supercritical solutions and understand and assist customers with their challenges
  • Build technical competency on Apeks Supercritical solutions to act as a credible resource to customers
  • Keep current on vertical markets dynamics, application trends, and competitive information through communications with marketing and our strategic customers
  • Provide information to marketing team to create business development programs

Responsibilities include assisting and driving sales opportunities of our full range of Supercritical CO2 extraction equipment. This position is intended to develop into a Sales Representative position in 6-12 months. This position will be based out of our Johnstown, Ohio manufacturing headquarters.

The desired candidate should be a self-starter capable of implementing a prescribed Business Plan, working closely with the other members of the sales team as well as marketing colleagues to deliver aggressive call cycle and business development results. This will include contacting and following up on leads, prospecting new markets. An understanding of the customers’ needs and challenges will be developed followed by the design and communication of our solutions such that they convey meaningful business impact to our customers.

Production Operations Manager for Ohio Grown Therapies

Overview of Position

Ohio Grown Therapies, LLC (“Company”) is a regulated enterprise supervised by the Ohio Dept of Commerce and Ohio Board of Pharmacy.

The Production Operations Manager (POM) bears day-to-day Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and Derivative Product Manufacturing responsibilities at the Company’s Johnstown Production Center (PC).

This critical position ensures continuous high-performance production operations in a safe and secure work environment characterized by strict regulatory compliance and government oversight.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manufacturing Platform Responsibilities

The POM is responsible for day-to-day execution of intermediate product manufacturing operations. Specific duties include:

  • In coordination with the CEO, planning and executing the weekly bulk CO2 extraction order.
  • Managing the post-extraction refinement process, including homogenization, winterization, vacuum filtration, and rotary evaporation of medical cannabis oleoresins.
  • Executing vacuum fractional distillation runs on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, with guidance from CEO.
  • Carrying out additional manufacturing activities, including post-processing, polishing and final product formulation, with guidance from CEO.
  • Ensuring adequate stocks of food grade CO2, dry ice and liquid nitrogen needed to sustain ongoing manufacturing operations are consistently maintained.
  • Generally maintaining a safe, clean and well-organized manufacturing platform at all times.

Inventory Management

The POM bears day-to-day responsibility for managing intermediate manufactured product inventory in BioTrack (BT), and on the Extraction Log, from the bulk extraction stage through the winterization, rotary evaporation, and (where applicable) vacuum distillation stages. Specific duties include the following:

  • Tracking and performing data entry corresponding to all other material and flower converted to extract.
  • Regularly updating the extraction log with yield (of terpenes, crude wax, and refined or distilled oil) and other required data as specified.
  • Tracking all waste or partially spent material resulting from the extraction and refinement processes, and ensuring all waste designated for destruction is designated as such in BT and properly scheduled for destruction consistent with the Company’s waste stream management SOPs.

Operations and Maintenance Responsibilities

The POM bears direct responsibility for the management all O&M activities at the Company’s Johnstown PC. Specific duties include:

  • Day-to-day management of the Johnstown PC Maintenance Officers in the execution of their regular facility maintenance duties as specified in the PC O&M Manual. These include:
    • HVAC Systems O&M (mini-splits, central AC system, and ventilation systems);
    • CO2 and ethanolic extraction systems O&M;
    • Waste O&M.
  • Managing O&M and training activities relating to the Johnstown PC fire suppression and safety systems, including:
    • Regular inspection and upkeep of the Company’s fire suppression and emergency systems to ensure system readiness and first responder alerts;
    • Regular upkeep of any fire suppression systems currently in development to ensure any active work areas are clearly marked and do not present hazards;
    • Conduct periodic staff training and emergency drills to ensure the Company’s safety and security SOPs are rigorously practiced by all employees.
  • Coordination and supervision of Security Systems O&M activities, as specified in the PC O&M Manual:
    • Access Control Manager O&M (Schlage locks, panel interface module, and other ACM devices);
    • Access Control Center O&M (NVR, IP cameras);
    • Perimeter fencing and destruction area fencing O&M.

Qualifications

Work Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years progressively responsible management experience specific to Good Manufacturing Practices and O&M activities.
  • Work history that demonstrates stability, progressive responsibility and willingness to accept new duties, take the initiative, and drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Prior experience in construction project coordination and management.
  • Prior experience operating and maintaining manufacturing equipment.
  • Demonstrated management experience in the context of a regulated industry subject to strict compliance and security requirements a strong advantage.
